The Drop is a solid crime drama. Tom Hardy lends his grittiness and superb acting chops to the film, along with a talented cast, including Gandolfini. The Drop has a finely crafted story and a surprising amount of emotion in the form of a romance that takes place amongst all the crime and dirty deeds.
Overall, it's dark, unpredictable and entertaining.
