Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Sameer K — 10 Nov 2007
Kieslowski has entered my top 5 directors of all time with this masterpiece. To call it a film or a movie is undervaluing the experience of this work of art. It's sheer poetry, each frame is a rich tapestry comparable to any work of art.
Every scene has so much that is unsaid, via hidden symbols, that I suspect Kieslowski did not intend this to be a passive experience. You need to sense it, feel the vibrations of the haunting music, participate in the rhythm of Veronique's heartbeat.
This is one of those experiences that is better to live than to recount in words. Immerse yourself and enrich your life.
