Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Pasi P — 19 Dec 2007
A gorgeously beautiful film from Krzysztof Kieslowski (of Dekalog and Three Colors fame). No doubt much of the inspiration behind Amelie (its lush cinematography, the looks of the main actress, the whimsy of the narrative, etc.
). Ultimately, just a little confusing but still a brilliant experience. A Parisian named Veronique has the sneaking suspicion that she has a double somewhere in the world, and indeed she does, in Weronika (living in Poland).
Some sexuality will make this a poor choice for some, but a stunning work of art all the same.
