Review of The Double Hour (2009) by Matthew R — 19 Jun 2017
A bit of a spoiler alert. This movie is an ode to filmmaking, crossing over genres without entirely losing that it is fundamentally a heist movie and a love story. There are twists and turns in plot as well as in directorial style.
I believe it could have gained from better cinematography especially in terms of cutting between characters. You won't like the movie if you don't like being tricked by plot and genre twists (noir, Hitchcock, suspense thriller, unreliable narratives, heist, love triangle, etc.
) but I found it very compelling. Tsenia Rappoport is engaging, and as the role demands, elusive in her delivery.
