Review of The Double (2014) by Barry T — 03 Apr 2014
I can't really decide if this was a good film or not. The script was very sharp, and had a surprising amount of laughs, as well as emotional depth. It's also well directed, with the tone being consistently creepy and tense throughout.
Jesse Eisenberg is also very good, and while he does get a bit of a chance to show range, he does stick to the fast talking know it all he usually plays. What makes me unsure of whether I liked The Double or not is the feeling I was left with.
I was just unsure of what I'd seen, but it was more of a frustration than a curiosity. Still, there was a lot to like about it, and in general it was an interesting and original film that has a lot to offer those who are willing to look for it.
