Review of The Devil Rides Out (1968) by L J — 22 Jun 2007
I'm a huge Hammer Horror fan, and this is one of my favourites. Yeah, so the visual effects are indicative of the time the film was made, but you have to take that into account when you watch this stuff - it's not gonna be slick, is it? But it's a nicely creepy flick, with Charles Gray playing one of the most deliciously-evil bastards in film history; his performance is just SPOT-ON - it wouldn't surprise me if he really was a Satanist in real life, he's so convincing.
Chris Lee plays a goodie, for a change. The legendary Richard Matheson wrote the screenplay. Terence Fisher directed. What more recommendation do you need, for God's...sorry, Satan's sake? Why are you sitting there, reading this? Go out NOW and find it!
