Review of The Departed (2006) by Landon L — 10 Jun 2014
The film is very well made, but it just didn't do it for me. Considering that Goodfellas is my favorite film of all I time, I guess my expectations were too high. It has some good performances, especially Wahlberg. Most of the characters are boring and that's a damn shame because the plot made this film sound so damn good. Oh yeah, that love story. What in the hell was the point of that? I guess it did bite a certain character in the ass at the end, but whatever. The film also feels like it goes on for too long. I think the movie could have been 1hr 45mins and would've gotten the point across. I also liked the surprise ending.
This film just didn't do it for me. I think it's one of the most overrated films of all time.
