Review of The Defiant Ones (1958) by Edward N — 03 Dec 2009
Not the best script in the world --- the metaphors were a bit too obvious --- but with some absolutely riveting dialogue. Cara Williams was definitely letting the team down cos everyone else did a bloody magnificent job with the acting, especially that totally fascinating lawman.
Mind you, I did find it a little too convenient how quickly they got clean after all the mud ... a couple of cinematic fails on that aspect. But oh man, fabulous movie all around and what an excellent combination of Poitier and Curtis!
