(1958) The Defiant Ones.
DRAMA.
Great set up has two convicts- one an African American (Sidney Poiter) and the other a Caucasion (Tony Curtis) who're chained up together running away to escape the search crew who're looking for them. Along the way they build a rapport despite their racial indifferences!
The film relies solely on the two performances of Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis and the chemistry works because the rapport is truly felt until the usual unsatisfying ending which was usually normal for Hollywood endings about all convicts must all be caught came into the picture!
3 out of 4.
