Review of The Defiant Ones (1958) by Andrew K — 28 Nov 2010
The Defiant Ones is an interesting character study on two criminals, that are not all that smart to begin with, who escape handcuffed together from a van that has crashed down a hill side. In order to successfully escape, they must get along, even if their races come between them.
It is very interesting film, boasted by very good performances from Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis (I have seen each actor in one other film: "In the Heat of the Night" and "Some Like it Hot," respectively).
A very interesting film, and for me, another one better than 1958's Best Picture winner, Gigi. Note: If you find the "N" word offensive, it is used at least twice within the first eight minutes of the film.
