Oh, the mammaries.. I mean memories of this movie!

I saw this movie with my grandmother and mom one afternoon while shopping at the local mall. I was ten years old and neither my mom or grandmother really knew what was going to be shown.

The first scene which caused my mom to cover my eyes was when Jacqueline Bisset's nice round breasts were shown through the thin, white, a size too small, wet t-shirt. I think I dropped a nut when I saw this, it was the first time I had seen a woman nearly naked.

The next time my mom covered my eyes was during the fight scene between the white guy and the black guy with the outboard power motor. I tried to pull her hands away from my eyes and I was surprised that my grandmother was telling my mom to leave me alone. HA!

This movie is really a classic, old school movie. A lot of the stunts were done with out stand-ins and several of the stunts nearly killed or did serious harm to the actors.

While the entire movie is over all cool, there are parts which are slow and drag along.

This is a good movie to see with Nick Nolte and has Robert Shaw (from Force 10 from Navarone and Jaws), it also has a young Louis Gossett Jr (Enemy Mine and Roots).

I like the feel of the Metrocolor, 35mm, Panavison film and it brings back memories of those days when all movies were filmed this way. There is sort of a raw, grainy look to the scenes which is by far not as crisp as the technology used today.

Over all this is a really good movie to see, but only hard core fans of the actors or Peter Benchley would have this in their collection. Definitely a rental if you haven't seen it yet.
