Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Ryan L — 22 May 2009
Cronenberg gives some awesome visuals, but it moves too fast and the different narratives aren't really woven together in a coherent fashion. Also, the casting on this was terrible. Sheen is awesome, but doesn't embody the dumb, reckless, redneck charisma that Stillson is supposed to possess.
Walken is the man, but Johnny is supposed to be a normal everyman, and Walken is anything but that. The little kid is a nerd instead of a dumb jock. It just doesn't fit.
