Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Lou E — 07 Jan 2008
It's interesting to see early Cronenberg looking so glossy and Hollywood - and without any oozing, throbbing flesh. Though the deputy twitching in the bathtub is a nice touch.
It's engaging enough; atmospheric and at times visually arresting. It all seems a bit naive, or small, or simple, or something in this day and age - particularly the political stuff. But taken for what it is it's good fun.
Christopher is great. It's fabulous to be able to look back and see him so young. I can't remember seeing him smile so much before. Martin Sheen steals the show though. He really tears it up.
