Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Andy S — 05 Jan 2018
Right off the bat, there's foreshadowing of Christopher Walken's movie career. He talks about the story of Sleepy Hollow, when he's in the movie just a couple years later. Brooke Adams is always cute in the movies she's in and always plays a lovely person.
The movie is kind of cheesy at times but having psychic abilities to the point where you can vividly see what's happening would definitely change my life forever. That scene where he grabs the reporter's hand, brilliant. This movie's got a great concept but lies flat sometimes. Martin Sheen plays a great character. A character we should all get familiar with because he represents everything that is wrong with the people who are in power. He represents this very thing, corruption. Just another bully looking to get ahead in the game for his own benefit.
I really like how Johnny was a mentor to the kid. Can you imagine seeing the future and how fucked up it could be and knowing that you can be the only one stop it from happening. I would definitely kill one to save billions, especially if the one is an evil vindictive bastard. Never ever have I ever been so satisfied with someone blowing their brains out just as the guy did. Bravo. I absolutely loved the outcome of it all. You imagine being that kid who takes the picture? Wow talk about taking the photo of a lifetime. Fucking genius how they did the whole scene. The whole reveal was done excellently, especially right when you think everything is over and nothing can be done. I am so elated it ended that way. It was meant to be.
Overall, fucking terrific movie. Loved the way they wrote the movie and how they filmed some of the scenes and sequences. You could even say it's an anti-political thriller movie. It's one of those movies that gets better and better as it goes on.
