Review of The Dead (2010) by Greg L — 06 Dec 2011
Americans are used to a faster paced zombie flick, with lots of head-shots and blood spatter (yes, it is spelled spatter, look it up). Howard Ford was going for a more thoughtful approach, exploring in microcosm, brief and intense relationships and how the tougher the adversity, the quicker bonds between persons form.
While this concept is an honorable approach to a genre that is running out of ways to entertain, I don't know how well it translated to audiences buying tickets to see zombies ravaging their victims and survivors braining multiple walking corpses.
I for one liked it for what is was, not a preconceived belief of what a "zombie movie" should be.
