Review of The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961) by Russell G — 23 Sep 2007
I first saw this movie when I was eight years old. I was already into sci-fi and loved disaster movies (weird kid eh) but this particular one caught my attention and at that time I could not fathom why.
Watching it many years later I think that is the excitment of the Newspaper Office that actually hooked me, the investigative reporters unearthing the truth which builds up into a stunning climax. This is film begging to be re-made BUT ONLY if they keep the London setting.
