Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Calem M — 05 Jun 2016
This is undoubtedly the best superhero movie ever made. It's smart, and dark, and isn't afraid to try anything new while still sticking to the source material of the comics. Lots of people will pass this one off because they don't like comic movies or superhero movies, and they can go on and on about this, but this film is far more than a superhero/comic book movie.
What this film has that other superhero films lack is a story arc for EVERY SINGLE IMPORTANT CHARACTER. What marvel films in MCU have been doing wrong is having some characters underdeveloped and uninteresting.
(eg. Whiplash-Iron Man 2.) The villain played by a Stellar Heath ledger has own story arc, but at the same is mysterious as you only know of the events that are happening to him during the film but that IS his character arc.
He creates mystery and character through the Unknown. Harvey dents character definitely has the most progression as it tells his story, as he put it in the beginning. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
" That is why this film will always be one of the greats.
