Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Leah S — 25 Nov 2017
The only superhero film that transcends the genre; Nolan's gritty realism is unbelievably effective because it's within the realm of possibility. The Joker is no demon, god, or unstoppable creature, but a vulnerable, human vehicle for chaos, anarchy, and terror.
Heath Ledger's Joker is hands down the greatest performance of the decade and--arguably--of all time. A film (and trilogy) that must be puzzling to next gen DC fans because it's not an awful Marvel knockoff like Justice League, Suicide Squad, or any other current projects.
