The Dark Crystal is a decent fantasy film on it's own, but it feels like an imitation of the Lord of the Rings novels and becomes mediocre. The puppetry is some of the best I've ever seen, but there are times that it doesn't even feel like a film, constantly forcing to remind yourself otherwise.
