Review of The Damned Don't Cry (1950) by Paul Z — 20 Aug 2010
Not one moment of this film bored me. I hated Joan Crawford's conniving character, but I still rooted for her, as I am wont to do when Joanie's onscreen looking fabulous and being mean. However, I wanted more scenes with the head gangster's wife. What was that lady up to? I want to believe she had a secret past that was analogous to Joan's, and I want to know all about it. Unfortunately, the film focused more on the men in Joan's torrid life, and some of those men ended up being kind of repetitive.
On the upside, there are fur coats and plenty of slapping. None by Joan this time, though.
