Review of The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) by Joey L — 13 Apr 2009
The best incarnation of the story that I have seen. Peter Cushing tears shit up as Dr. Frankenstein, obsessed with creating life from death. The focus of the film is on the professor, which is where it should be, and not on the hideous monster that he creates (which sensibly resembles more of a disfigured human than its earlier Universal counterpart).
This was a great way for Hammer to start off their franchise and if youre a Star Wars fan (which you should be) its sweet to see the Tarkin in action. That alone makes it worth watching.
