"The Crucible" is a fantastic play that falls short in some ways when it came to film. Overall, "The Crucible" is a good film and an enjoyable ride. I didn't like the general direction from Nicholas Hynter.
The film just left me flat in a fair amount of the scenes. With that said because the story is so good and the acting, especially from Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder, is superb! Ryder and Day-Lewis give extremely passionate performances.
In the end I found myself emotionally stuck in the story, which is definitely a good thing. I just wasn't there for the whole film, which is a bad thing.
