Review of The Crowd (1928) by Tim S — 20 Oct 2011
If you keep analyzing King Vidor's filmography, you'll easily realize that he was the inventor of every possible clichéd situation present in modern (and even classic) cinema, yet he captured the situations with heart and sentiment, always using the patriotic background of an idealized America. Landmark cinematography and camera work are displayed in front of our eyes to make of the portrayal of a metropolis plagued by a maddening crowd (like Thomas Hardy would say) something easier. Melodrama at its best.
99/100.
