Review of The Crow (1994) by Joe M — 16 Oct 2011
I do not think this movie aged well at all. The clothes that people are wearing are ridiculous...what the hell happen in the 90s. That being said the plot involves a character named Eric who was killed along with his girlfriend, and now he is back from the dead to take revenge.
I think this movie suffers from a lack of character development, as far as I can tell the bad guys burn buildings and somehow make profit. How and why that is their main source of income is unexplained.
I am also not a fan of the little girl who is to smart for her age, I never really like characters like this because I find them annoying and creepy and this was no exception. I know nothing about any of the characters except that Eric used to be in a band, and that Erine Hudson was demoted.
The rest of the film was just filled with action scenes. What the hell is up with the main villain and his girlfriend, they are the two weirdest people and everyone follows them around for some reason.
The sets were cheaply made and it was obvious when they were using miniatures. This is not bad movie, it is certainly entertaining to watch the action scenes, but on a second watch it's not a great movie, and is missing some key film elements to make it a great movie.
If you saw as kid and thought it was cool, then I do not recommend watching it again, because you will most likely be disappointed.
