Review of The Crow (1994) by Hallie G — 20 Nov 2013
Look, I did like it, in spite of the fact that a lot of stuff just kinda failed to *work* - It had a great visuals for sure, and perhaps other technical effects, but the treatment wasn't good enough in other aspects - I think maybe the acting was too "realistic" and fell flat when it needed a charge of glam to help it coordinate the special charm when you mix ridiculous evil, cheesiness, and ridiculous badassery, and the affable cop and the lonely orphan skater girl.
.. somehow I want to see a little better that the tongue is a bit more firmly implanted in the cheek with all this cheesiness. I haven't read the comic but I can totally see how it could be good. I heard they were trying to make another movie of the story and that fans of the original don't like the idea - but personally I hope the dreamers of this project want to make the better movie that is inherent in this material.
