Review of The Crimson Rivers (2000) by Donnell M — 20 Feb 2010
This is a great thriller. The mountain university setting is creepy and sinister. You can definitely see elements taken from The Silence of the Lamns here. They are not as well executed as in "Silence" but they're good nonetheless.
The only real dissappointments were that some of the fight/conflict scenes seemed pointless and poorly staged....a fight just to stick a fight into the film. The other thing that I didn't care for is the fact that only about 70% of dialogue has sub-titles.
There are many animated discussions going on but unless you yourself speak fluent French, you will get lost becaue there are no captions to tell you what's being said. Notwithstanding this, it's a great film worth a watch.
