Review of The Crash Reel (2013) by Derek A — 17 Nov 2013
Such an important movie to see, especially for those that participate or want to participate in extreme sports. Kevin's story is amazing and while I knew nothing about him prior to watching this film, I now have an enormous amount of respect for both him and his family for persevering through the adversity of Kevin's injury, recovery, and new life.
The filmmakers capture raw emotion in a manner that feels intimate, non-intrusive, and authentic. At the beginning of the movie, I thought Kevin was truly brave for his amazing feats on a snowboard, but by the film's end, I realized that Kevin's real bravery was in his acceptance of his limitations as a human and an athlete.
