Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Jorge C — 18 Aug 2008
The true story of a group of men that arguably changed the fate of WWII. Ruzowitzky masterfully tells his story, choosing to shoot when others would cut. The editing (the transition from counterfeiter to concentration camp to counterfeiter in concentration camp) is wonderfully tight.
The acting in the film is probably it's best asset. The script, although brilliant at times, does have a couple of hick-ups but in the end The Counterfeiters remains a remarkable tale of survival in one of our species' darkest eras.
