Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Artus U — 05 Mar 2009
A superb foreign film with subtitles that chronicles the gripping story of one of the best counterfeiters in the world who is hired by the Nazis to fund their Holocaust movement. The catch is that this man is Jewish and has been held in a concentration camp so he's basically offered better care in the concentration camps in return for the forgery of money.
The movie really paints his struggle perfectly and the emotions you feel throughout the movie are pretty powerful. There are some flaws like a slow beginning but the movie really keeps you engaged until the very end where you finally experience some joy.
Great rental and highly recommend this Oscar for best foreign language winning film.
