(2007) The Counterfeiters.
(Much of the film is spoken in German with English subtitles).
HISTORICAL WAR/ DRAMA.
Based on a true story about a real life person by the name of Salomon 'Sally' Sorowitsch (Karl Markovics) reflecting on his unbearable past who surivived while in a concentration camp because of who he is as a master forger and forced to help finance the Nazis during WWII.
There's a self indulgent kind of feel to Sally's life story which he has something most Jewish don't have is a talent and gift as a renown artist and that at times is hard to identify as opposed to others who don't have any type of artistic talent all. I also wanted to know the aftermaths about the two Nazi antagonists particularly the soldier and the high ranking major which this film didn't have the obligation to address since the war was over, but retribution was very much felt! So much more could've been shown showing us so little for a two hour movie!
2.5 out of 4.
