Oh, I swoon just thinking about this film. Greenaway really outdoes himself; the man is a damned genius. The use of colour, the lavish sets, the incredible characters, the air of magic realism, the brilliant acting, the MUSIC!
With a surreal, eye-popping aesthetic and story that echoes the most brutal of classical tragedies, Greenaway explores a few of his favourite themes of death, decay, rebirth, revenge.
