Review of The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Private U — 28 Sep 2007
A masterful work by director Peter Greenaway. Using set design to help evoke emotions, just like in a play. You get the feeling that this movie could very well be performed on stage.
A shocking, no holds barred tale of business, greed, gluttony, betrayal, lust and hatred.
Visually stunning. The acting beyond reproach and the story is engrossing and complex.
This is one of those movies that will leave you needing to talk to someone about it afterwards.
