Review of The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Hussain F — 14 Jul 2011
It's not badly acted, but if it's a commentary or a satire on something, it went totally over my head. There were quite a few things I didn't understand, such as why the characters' clothes change color when they enter different rooms? What's the point? It's grotesque, and I'm not faulting it for being that way, it's just some things in this movie make no sense whatsoever and feel like they come out of nowhere.
Granted, the ending is great. Do not watch after you have eaten. You'll be terrified to go near a restaurant for a long time.
