Review of The Conformist (1971) by Freddie F — 04 Oct 2011
I watched this about three months ago, gave it a 4.5 and wrote: "Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful." Ever since then, each time I have thought of it I have considered it mentally to be a masterpiece, and the 4.
5 has bothered me. To make it short: I'm bumping this up to a 5. This really is a great film, even if the final 'confrontation' is a tad forced. It is just such a visually stunning and emotionally and thematically complex work.
Brilliant.
