Review of The Comedy (2012) by Robert M — 19 Nov 2012
It's never been so easy for me to justify a film as being "FIVE STARS" in my head and then so difficult to articulate it. This film captures sincere moments shared between friends living in BK, as well as the main protagonist's great ability in antagonizing those around him for his amusement.
The title is ironic and that is where the irony ends. Everything told in this movie is oddly sincere, which leaves the viewer caught in a crescendo while waiting for the surreal to kick in. The movie never tries to be Tim and Eric's Awesome Show.
This movie great is that it is able to detail a pretentious sect of society with so much detail that it makes a seamless, authentic movie going experience. I recommend this film to anyone that wants to bend their perception of "hipster". Be sure to take notes.
