Review of The Collector (1965) by Lulu Y — 13 Jun 2007
One rivetingly shocking film. I mean who here hasn't had feelings of unrequited love with someone but then to go and kidnap him/her and try to force love is so fascinating. Wyler crafts this film at times in a very Hitchcockian thriller way but also alludes to so much more with the characters and the game that they are playing.
Even the subject matter can be very current but I don't think you'll ever get a film like this again. Roland Joffe's upcoming film, "Captivity" won't even come close.
