Review of The Collector (1965) by Luis G — 06 Jan 2009
Terrence Stamp as a creepy, childlike butterfly collector who wins the lottery, buys a house, kidnaps the woman of his dreams and forces her to live in his cellar until she "gets to know him." Great, acting from both leads and great direction from Wyler.
It manages to get really creepy at times. I think someone said it before but this feels very much like it could be a stageplay. For a story that I've seen many times before, this kept me engaged and interested for the whole two hours.
