Review of The Collection (2012) by Roxanne R — 30 Mar 2013
Wow remarkable improvement over the initial film which was complete trash, I believe I gave the Collector one star (yes it was that bad). But this time, the dynamic duo of Dunstan and Melton wrote and directed a scary, tense, edge of your seat thriller that will satisfy the viewer! For starters this is not a home invasion nor bland.
A wealthy teen named Elena (Emma Fitzpatrick) sneaks out of her house to accompany her friends to a secret party. During the first 15 minutes of the film you will be blown away by the ghastly demise of all the club attendees- gruesome but the special effects were very good! With a $10 million dollar budget, the cast and crew did a phenomenal job! After Elena is kidnapped by the "collector", her father enlists the aid of his right-hand man Lucello (Lee Tergesen) to save Elena and bring her back home.
Lucello talks to the collector's only survivor (Josh Stewart playing Arkin), the man who lived to tell all about the torture he suffered at the hands of the collector. Lucello gets a team of mercenaries and together with Arkin create a plan to save Elena.
Once at the Collector's hideout, get ready for some thrills and chills of major proportions as the collector has all kinds of lethal traps in store for anyone breaking into his hideout. This script is a million times better than the first one and it kept me fully engaged.
What a rollercoaster ride! Oh the ending is fantastic and I surmise this will be the final one. Believe me when I say only fear the smart diabolical entomologist known as the Collector. RECOMMENDED!!
