Review of The Client (1994) by Jay L — 25 Apr 2011
"The mob never forgets.".
Another John Grisham novel adaptation from Director Joel Schumaker. (A Time To Kill) The Client is a bombastically slick, intricately woven, and tightly knit thriller that's packed with absolute entertainment throughout. A disturbing, gritty, but ultimately touching tale about hope, family, and the power of the truth. Another knockout from Schumaker and company, The Client is jam-packed with bare-knuckle suspense, top-notch thrills, and genuine emotion, a damn good time at the movies. An excellent, well crafted, and cerebral story from Grisham that was adapted brilliantly to the big screen by Joel Schumaker. A marvelous and truly brilliant, pulse-pounding and nerve searing thriller. Highly recommended.
Brad Renfro in his acting debut does a great job here in one of his early performances. A performance that would later lead to a successful career in the business. Susan Sarandon is astounding in her Academy Award nominated performance in this film, and Tommy Lee Jones never disappoints, as is the case here in this film. Marvelous acting from a very well assembled cast.
