Review of The Client (1994) by Kilo D — 19 Sep 2014
"The Client" may cause Cardiovascular disease and the viewer may, indeed, need a prescription filed for Lipitor when the end credits begin. To be short: the script could've been written by a pre-teen, the dialogue is awkward, the narrative is too familiar, every scene involving the mafia is a ruse and never rises above caricature, and that medallion that's just so damn important to Mrs.
Sarandon's character that one can't help but remember reading of in every and any intro to screenwriting book, and then there's Joel Schumacher's interoperation of aforementioned script that includes too many melodramatic pull-ins and a tone deafness.
Nevertheless, Tommy Lee Jones is enough of a joy to make this a somewhat tolerable late night/early morning watch.
