Have been a huge fan of The Clash for over 20s years now. Through these last couple of generations of pseudo punk it pisses me off what seems like an utter shunning of one of (if not the) most revolutionary punk or otherwise bands of all time.
Musically purest know of The Clash's power & influence but the mainstream just wouldn't know great music if he came & bit them right in the balls sack or twat. People rave Green Day is the greatest punk band of all time.
Personally I consider Green Day to be Pop-Punk & a bunch of shit. The Clash is for the rebellious where as Green Day is for the Pep Rally. Westway to the World is a fantastic look @ what I consider one of the truly greats that were over well before their time.
By the time Combat Rock exploded & they were on the top of the world the band's better days as a unit were behind them. Burned out they packed it in just as the train was running crazy horse. Combat Rock may have been their great commercial success but to truly appreciate them you need to get into their back catalog.
