Review of The Circle (2017) by Bill T — 20 Dec 2017
Think "Antitrust mixed in with a wee bit of "Black Mirror" and you have "The Circle" a movie that so startlingly unoriginal it's almost amusing. Emma Watson plays a techie hired into the biggest social media website around, and soon finds out, surprise, that the company seems to want to take over the world.
Everybody, and I mean everyone seems fine with that and or just seems that's inevitable. The very few resisters seem to float around, the company knows they're there, and you're just assuming the company would eliminate them to, you know, cause tension, but they're still there.
This is a rare movie in which nothing really happens, it may get you talking, but it just seems so inconclusive to really mean anything.
