Review of The Circle (2017) by Torion O — 03 Jul 2018
There's some funny meta-commentary about The Circle, though the ideas presented by zero privacy throughout the movie are merely presented without forethought and followup (save for one of the movie's more dramatic scenes in the climax).
What's worse is the through-plot established between John Boyega's character and Emma Watson's character meeting all but disappears and then is dropped in the ending rather confusingly since it's set up one way but turns out contrary to what the characters were heading towards.
It's not a twist, because that would involve being clever. If this were a different movie, something based on the scary notion that nothing is private but presented satirically rather than seriously I think it would be more solid of a movie as well as just all around better.
But, as it is I guess it's fine-ish.
