Review of The Cider House Rules (1999) by Giacomo V — 18 Nov 2008
Disappointing. Director Hallstrom tones down the edgier aspects of Irving's classic novel (about a young orphan raised in a doctor's clinic) and turns it into the first Disney movie about abortion.
A wooden Tobey can't carry the lead, but the worst part is the movie's shameless reliance on the cutesiness of the the kids. Read the book instead.
