How did I missed this movie in 1999? Perhaps when I was a kid I was really into all the action stuff. Be it movies, tv shows, and especially in video games. Those were the times when I was not into slow paced, melodramatic films.

As I got older, I guess I got into more and even more of those kind of films. Maybe because I've seen one thing and another and another that now I like to just calm myself down and watch a very interesting, slice of life kind of story.

I've been meaning to watch The Cider House Rules and wonder why it won two academy awards and got nominated a few. Tobey Maguire has always got me to know him as THE Spider-Man. Few of the guys that jump started the trend of comic book movies and I still think his Spider-Man is pretty good.

A lot of familiar faces in this movie like Charlize Theron who I know in a couple of movies like Aeon Flux, Delroy Lindo from The One, Paul Rudd in a lot of comedy movies that I like but he's the one and only Ant-Man, J.

K. Simmons who also worked with Tobey in Spider-Man as J. Jonah Jameson, and one of the legendar actors, Michael Cain. Michael Cain did a wonderful performance as always and seeing him in a 90's film was a blast from the past (also a movie title!).

I loved every second of this movie. I tend to forget that movies made in the 90's and back are quite different than the movies we see today. At least from what I've seen so far. But the fact of the matter is, The Cider House Rules was I thought a very good novel adaptation.

It just gave me that really good feeling. But of course there were a few moments that brings that feeling down but somehow Tobey's character Homer made it all seem like it's gonna be okay kind of thing.

And now I realized this movie is kind of like Forest Gump. Since this movie really is a slice of life kind of way. The Cider House Rules is a great movie and one should not miss an opportunity. If you like slow paced, life stories then watch it.
