A shame really, after a plainly and brilliantly executed low-budget first offering, this franchise gets a boost to its budget and decides to go down the pompous, overblown and frilly route with a film so worn down by science fiction wankery, breast plates and fancy eye make up that all of the excellence of the first film has all but faded away.
