Review of The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) by Robert G — 04 Sep 2013

Nine years after epic "Helion Prime" (2004) that is in my SF top 5 for a long time, I would have loved to see something that would keep me enthousiastic for the next nine years about Chronicles of Riddick. Unfortunatly this one doesn't do the job for me.

I'm dissapointed the story falls back to "Pitch Black" kind of settings, which is already daring, but then with the same tools at hand is unfortunately put down much less tense and convincing. At least it should have made some steps forward in this concern.

Also the Furyan character type of Riddick and the required settings for his character to excel are maintained less concentrated and critical. In these movie he has a dog and all kinds of human like sentiments in Riddicks character are introduced.

Maybe the plans are to evolute this initial well formed mythological character into an empathic domesticated muscular human man that happens to wear Riddick contact lenses, over the span of a couple of Riddick releases; I don't know. I would go see them though out of curiousity and to be baffled.

Same character loss is found in agent 007 today... what a rape of a very nice thing that I always loved. Call it something else if you make something else, please.
