Review of The Children of Huang Shi (2008) by Sue M — 08 Feb 2009
This is an old fashioned adventure movie, sensitively told. I enjoyed it, and liked how it delved into some pretty big philosophical questions without any sense that it was doing anything special. Those questions are necessary! And while it didn't get to any particularly brilliant conclusions, it created a story through which we could do some of our own thinking on some pretty serious stuff.
I love the ending in the sense that it took place in such a strange place in such a strange way - it made you realize how vast the world really is.
