Review of The Chalk Garden (1964) by Indira S — 15 Feb 2013
This nearly forgotten movie is one of the best character studies I've ever seen. Beautifully written dialog, music scored to reflect the characters. The actors - all of them - turned in amazing performances.
And the underlying message speaks to the ability of the human spirit to continue to grow, even in old age. Not a movie for children or for when one seeks uncomplicated entertainment, but a movie not to be missed.
