Review of The Cell (2000) by Chelsea W — 25 Feb 2010
I give The Cell three stars for its visual aesthetics. The plot was typical, run-of-the-mill, and shallow: a serial killer with a bad childhood tortures and kills people, and Lopez (a psychotherapist) has to find out where his most recent victim is before she is killed.
Now for the sci-fi twist... she attempts to discover where this victim is by using new technology to travel inside of the killer's mind. The visual effects in these dream worlds are bizarre, breathtaking, and horrifying.
.. and the only thing that keeps this movie on my "scary flicks" list.
